We're Back!

[Friday 30th April 2021]

We’re back and ready to rock!

In the past twelve months, during the Covid 19 pandemic and like so many other groups, Loughborough Concert Band has limped along. We’ve had Zoom quizzes once a fortnight and we had a spell of socially distanced rehearsals last summer that were not open to the whole band to attend at once and created a heavy workload for our much-appreciated Club secretary, Ian. But there was no knowing when we would play a concert next. And the coming of the autumn meant that even the socially distanced rehearsals had to stop. We missed high spots in our calendar such as Remembrance and the Christmas concerts.

And of course, we all understood. Covid was not to be made light of. But we missed rehearsals and the shared purpose of playing in a band. And most of all we missed each other (and I know I’m not the only one who felt that, and I even missed the trudge from the car park to the function room, lugging equipment!) Now there finally seems to be light at the end of the tunnel,  if Eddie will excuse a railway analogy, and we have a date for socially distanced rehearsals, and even a concert.

Socially distanced rehearsals are planned to start on Thursday 20th May, 2021. Ian will be in touch with details.

The concert is Music in the Park, at Knighton Park, Leicester, 3-4pm.

Can I suggest we play Pack up Your Troubles?
