Loughborough Concert Band

On the 3rd of May the band were invited to join with the Charnwood Community Singers at the NSC Arena in Loughborough. This is a new venue for the band and is a well equipped hall ideal for concerts.

The theme of songs from the Movies and Musicals is perfect for the band as we have a wide range of music that fits the bill. Starting with Those Magnificent Men in their Flying Machines from the movie of the same name, we followed with a selection from the musical Les Miserables. Other well known pieces followed including the trumpet and euphonium duet I Know Him So Well from the musical Chess played beautifully by Sue Boyles (trumpet) and Steve Simpson (euphonium). The Magnificent Seven followed by Murder on the Orient Express (including “gun shots”) gave a big screen start to the second half and of course we couldn’t do a programme like this without some wonderful Disney music in our Disney at the Movies medley.

Thank you everyone involved in putting on this evenings entertainment which raised £700 for the Shepshed Volunteer Centre.
