Concert at Sage Cross Methodist Church

[Saturday 24th September 2022]

This concert had been postponed – and postponed – by the pandemic, but the band finally played at Sage Cross in Melton Mowbray.

In the lovely acoustics of the church, the band played beautifully.  As compere Eddie Pearson told us, the programme took us right around the world, starting in the USA with the Washington Post, moved to Spain (Fiesta y Flores) and ever onwards with music to make the audience laugh and join in. At one point there was a sing-a-long-a Abba (Sweden) as the audience was treated to Abba Gold, a medley that included Dancing Queen, Fernando and Winner Takes it all. We were told of the young Eddie’s neat way of avoiding maths, by distracting his teacher with questions about Persia (In a Persian Market) Caught out in the end!

Soloists included Zoe Felton, on Alto Saxophone and Millie Gibbons on trumpet. Deps were Steve on Bass, Ian on Euphonium, John on Baritone Sax and Simon on Trumpet.
