Loughborough Concert Band

Each year the band plays Christmas music and carols in Carillon Court shopping centre and raises money for charity. This years chosen charity was the local branch of Parkinson’s UK and volunteers from the charity joined with the band next to the Christmas tree on Saturday 3rd December.

An ever-changing audience was entertained by a wide variety of pieces , ranging from medleys of carols to classics like White Christmas and Walking in the Air, Fairytale of New York to Medieval carols including Gaudete which was a huge hit for Steeleye Span in the 1970s. These were interspersed with popular carols and old favourites like Little Drummer Boy.

A total of £234.21 was raised for the charity who do essential work with weekly support sessions for those with Parkinson’s and their partners at Gorse Covert Community Centre. Thank you to everyone who stopped to listen and donated to a very worthy cause.
